Uh oh!

Jason learned how to say 'Uh oh' yesterday.

He was playing near the Christmas tree and picked up the heater-vent diverter that we have in place to keep hot air from blowing directly on the tree. I saw this and said something like 'Uh oh, that needs to go back on the vent.' Jason then said, 'Uh oh.'

He was saying 'Uh oh' off and on throughout the evening. Very cute.

No no no

Jason has learned to say 'No.' The other day he started saying 'No no no.' Later on he started to use in in context when I tried to make him do something that he didn't want to do.

Yesterday, he dumped all the toys out of a couple of his toy bins. He then sat down and went through his toys. He would pick up a toy, look at it, say, 'No,' and throw the toy behind him (he has a powerful backward throw, so you have to look out). It was as if he was looking for a particular item in the pile a ..

Jason answers the phone

Yesterday I was out purchasing some Christmas lights but needed to ask Ana a question, so I called home. After a couple of rings, the phone is picked up, and I here Gowga gowga gowga Deedleedleedle, etc. At first I thought that maybe I had a wrong number, but then realized that Jason had answered the phone!

I said something like, "Hi Jason, it's Daddy." After talking to Jason for a bit, he realized that he was talking to Daddy, and started saying, "Daddydaddy."

At this point I said, "Ja ..

Come with me, Daddy

Lately when Jason wants me to come with him or help him to do something in another room, he will grab my hand and lead me to whatever he wants.

For example, the other day Jason wanted to watch a Thomas the Tank Engine video. He grabbed my hand and pulled me from the kitchen to the TV/VCR. He then picked up a Thomas video and pointed to the TV/VCR.

Checking out Buck

We like to decorate the outside of our house for Christmas. One of the decorations is a big lighted reindeer (nicknamed Buck) with an animated head that looks left and right. Whenever we go past Buck, Jason stares and stares at him.

Under the bridge

The last few days Jason has been playing 'under the bridge' with me. I stand with my legs apart enough for him to go through and he drives one of his trucks or buses through. He does it over and over.

If he gets much taller, I will have to start wearing lifts.

Toy Explosion

For some reason, Jason has been digging into his toybox and finding all of the small toys at the bottom that he has not seen for a while. Which is fine except that after he pulls them out, he leaves them lying around the living room.

What's strange is that while he is messy with his toys, he is very concerned with the neatness of adult things. He is always closing cabinets and straightening small rugs and furniture.

Playing in the dark

Yesterday, Jason closed up all the doors leading into the hallway and pulled me in with him. He wanted to play hide-and-seek with Daddy in the dark. He would leave the hallway for a moment while I would hide around the corner, then he would come back in and look for me.

Since he was coming from a lighted room into the dark hallway, he really couldn't see me very well and would be a little surprised when I would grab him. He wasn't scared at all, but would laugh a little and say 'Daddy Da ..

Jason's Second Thanksgiving

Well, yesterday was Jason's second Thanksgiving. Although he no nap, Jason was cute and happy the whole day. Despite my fears, Jason did not pull on the tablecloth, sending glasses and china tumbling to the floor. :icon_biggrin:

Jason's cousin Griffin was over as well. They are not old enough yet to play together--I have heard that toddlers don't really interact with each other until age 3 or so.

After most of the guests had left, Jason took a very short nap and woke up cranky, but r ..

Thanksgiving Setup

Jason spent the day over at his Grandma's today so that we could concentrate on setting up for Thanksgiving. When we brought him back home, he was fascinated by the long table in the dining room and by the buffet table in the living room.

We had to keep a close eye on him this evening to make sure that he didn't get his hands on a plate (or worse, the tablecloth). After a while, he lost interest in the tables, though we maintined our vigilence just in case...
